Cellspan Tracheal Implants

Cellspan Tracheal Implants may allow for the safe reconstruction of any portion of the trachea, potentially restoring its functional integrity. Proof-of-concept was confirmed in man in an earlier generation tracheal product showing that an electrospun scaffold seeded with the patient’s own cells can form a patent airway.

Cellspan implants are intended to offer numerous advances over tracheal resection alone:

  • Use in patients who need a long tracheal segment replacement
  • Improve survival and fewer complications
  • Reduce costs through reduced hospitalization and in-hospital mortality rates

Cellspan implants have the potential for restoring the structural integrity of the trachea in an estimated 8,000 patients in the U.S. and E.U.
